Your next career opportunity
As the Director of Melbourne Climate Futures (MCF), you will lead a pioneering interdisciplinary initiative focused on advancing the University of Melbourne's leadership in addressing the global challenge of climate change. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive research excellence, foster collaborations, and amplify the University's contribution to climate action on a national and international scale. The Director reports to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC, Research) on strategic matters and to the Dean of the Melbourne Law School on administrative and operational matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Providing executive leadership of MCF, including chairing the Executive Management Committee and collaborating with key University stakeholders
• Engaging with the MCF Advisory Board to guide priorities and engagement activities
• Leading the development and implementation of University priorities related to climate change research and action
• Building and maintaining strategic relationships with external agencies, organizations, and individuals to secure resources and facilitate MCF activities
• Overseeing key strategic research partnerships and contributing to government agendas and policy related to climate change
You may be a great fit if:
You are a Professor at the University of Melbourne with an exemplary research track record in a relevant field. You have prior experience in a leadership role within a university or research institution. You appreciate the role of world-class research in delivering high impact in interdisciplinary climate policy. You have a demonstrable track record of successful facilitation and relationship building. You can effectively represent the University's interests when dealing with external stakeholders at all levels.
You may also
• Have experience in leading large-scale interdisciplinary research initiatives
• Possess a strong network in the climate change research and policy community
• Demonstrate a passion for driving meaningful change in climate action
• Have experience in securing funding and resources for research programs
