Job Description

NV Energy is seeking a Director of Gas Engineering & Project Execution in Reno, NV. The role involves leading teams in gas engineering, system planning, and project management, ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards. Responsibilities include managing capital budgets, directing engineering resources, and providing expert testimony in regulatory proceedings. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, a Professional Engineering License in Nevada, and extensive experience in gas facility design.
Responsibilities

Basic Purpose

Provides direction, leadership, and management to the teams responsible for gas engineering, system planning, construction standards, and project management. Directs the preparation of solutions, business cases, controls and programs for the gas delivery organization. Develops and manages the gas delivery capital budget. Ensures the capital projects for system improvements, main replacements, service replacements, and meter change-outs are planned, designed, and constructed in accordance with applicable laws, codes, and standards while meeting customer expectations. Directs the activities of a staff of engineers, design technicians, and project managers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Directs the technical teams responsible for the gas system design, project management, and project execution, ensuring the system is designed and installed in a manner that maximizes public safety and is in compliance with applicable regulations and codes.

Directs internal and external engineering resources and project management teams for all gas engineering projects. Ensures all projects are completed per schedule and budget to meet business unit objectives.

Develops and manages the operating budget for the department and the capital budget for the gas delivery organization. Is accountable to optimize internal labor and external contract resources to achieve defined cost metrics for assigned projects valued between $15M to $50M per year.

Directs the gas system planning and long-term gas supply plan.

Directs the unit goals and objectives in support of gas business operations.

Provides expert testimony on gas engineering projects in regulatory proceedings before federal and state agencies, including preparation of data request responses. Provides expert testimony on capital investments, engineering, operation, and maintenance of the gas system assets.

Participates in the industry forums to maintain highest level of understanding on technological developments associated with gas distribution systems and code changes. Implements industry best practices within the company for balanced outcomes against core principles.

Oversees a staff of engineers, project managers, and design technicians.

Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.

Requirements

Essential Education, Skills, and Environment (example below)

Education and Work Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in engineering, Professional Engineering License in the State of Nevada, and 8 or more years of related experience.

Candidates without a Professional Engineering License in the State of Nevada must be able to and obtain a registered professional engineer license in the State of Nevada within 12 months of hire date.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Demonstrated knowledge of:
• Gas facility design, system planning, cathodic protection, facility mapping, and construction standards
• DOT regulations governing gas distribution systems, company construction practices and standards
• Applicable federal, state and local codes, orders and rules that apply to gas transmission and

Demonstrated skills such as:
• Analytical, interpersonal, time management, decision-making, human relations, presentation, organizational and communication.

Equipment and Applications

PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

General office environment with some field work for supervision and emergency response.

Compensation

Annual Salary: $137,000 (Min) to $161,200 (Mid); Up to 20% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
