Job Description
Stryten Energy is seeking a Director of Environmental Operations in Johns Creek, GA. This leadership role involves overseeing environmental compliance programs at manufacturing sites, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local laws. Responsibilities include managing hazardous waste regulations, spill prevention, and environmental project work. The position requires collaboration with plant management and training development to maintain compliance with environmental policies and regulations.
Overview
This role will provide leadership and direction to manufacturing sites regarding implementation of Environmental Programs to ensure compliance with permits, regulations, and company policies. The position establishes priorities, strategic direction and manages activities necessary to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws. The position is part of the Stryten Energy Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) team, and reports to the Executive Vice President of Operations
Responsibilities
Direct and oversee environmental compliance programs to ensure plant operations meet permit and regulatory requirements per RCRA, NESHAP, and NSPS and are in compliance with the environmental aspects of the Stryten Energy EHS Management System.This position will provide expertise and particular focus on ensuring compliance with applicable hazardous waste regulations; Integrated Contingency Plan; Inspections; Reporting; Record keeping; Training; Groundwater Monitoring; and Corrective Actions (RCRA Facility Investigations, Corrective Measures; Corrective Actions);Provide expertise and instruction to facilities regarding compliance with environmental regulations related to:
Hazardous Materials Management (e.g., identification and management of hazardous chemicals above threshold quantities; emergency response and release planning; record keeping; reporting, such as Tier II, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI)/Form R; and, personnel trainingWaste management (e.g., universal waste, solid waste, and hazardous waste); waste generation registration and notification requirements; waste determinations; 90 day storage labeling, inspections, recordkeeping, reporting (e.g., biennial hazardous waste report); personnel training; land disposal restrictions; and, manifestingSpill prevention and control (e.g., oil storage; discharge protocols; recordkeeping)Storage tanks (e.g., above ground storage tanks, underground storage tanks)
Oversee and direct environmental project work related to remediation or cleanup; including environmental use covenants (EUC) or environmental restrictive covenants (ERC); obtain agency No Further Action (NFA) or applicable closure materialsWork closely with the operations team, including plant management and site environmental personnel to implement environmental programs to meet permit and regulatory requirements for: detailed work instructions and checklists necessary to ensure day-to-day compliance, monitoring, measuring, reporting, recordkeeping, and training.Provide as needed support to sites during periods of environmental personnel transition;Supervise and oversee work performed by environmental consultants, vendors and service providers as needed;Support facilities with development of permit renewals, applications, and modifications, responding to agency Requests for Information (RFI) and/or other technical support with incorporating input from Motrex LLC Lead Counsel – EHS.Develop environmental training content and conduct training to meet permit and regulatory-required environmental requirements, such as hazardous waste management and hazardous materials shipment.Development of manufacturing-site audit protocol to ensure compliance with above mentioned policies, regulations, permits, and agreements.Support sites with prevention, preparation and management of emergency occurrences through development of site-specific emergency contingency plans and periodic drills;Other assignments and projects, as necessary.
Qualifications
Experience:Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental compliance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the manufacturing industry.2+ years (Director/Multisite) experience with environmental permit and regulatory compliance programs in the manufacturing, heavy industrial, metals industry; or similar experience in industries involving hazardous materials/waste are a plusBachelor Degree in Environmental Management, Business, Engineering or relevant discipline;Expertise in regulations applicable to RCRA, NESHAP, NSPS, and Large Quantity Generators (LQGs)Ability to analyze and understand environmental regulations;Ability to translate regulatory knowledge into policies and procedures; and into standard work practices for implementation by plant operations personnelExpertise in applying environmental knowledge, data analysis and facilitation skills to develop solutions for effective management of site environmental permits and regulatory requirements;Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and persuasively with all levels of the organization to influence change;Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, outside agencies and the general public; and,Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including a respirator, and move throughout a manufacturing facility in the performance of work responsibilities.CertificationsProfessional certifications such as Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) are a plusTravel and Other Requirements:Willingness to travel to facilities approximately 25% of the time (up to 50%).Job Location:Alpharetta, GA
