About The Role

- The Director of Environmental Affairs will lead and enhance environmental affairs functions at Enviva, focusing on permitting and compliance efforts.
- This role involves engaging with executive leadership and various stakeholders to strengthen environmental strategies and compliance.
- Responsibilities include developing and implementing environmental permitting and compliance strategies for wood-pellet plants and port facilities.
- The position requires managing a team of environmental permitting and compliance managers, ensuring they meet the company's environmental objectives.
- The Director will also be responsible for filing and obtaining necessary permits while managing compliance risks and ensuring timely completion of actions.
- A bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or a similar field is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in an environmental role.
- Candidates should have prior environmental work experience in states such as Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, or Mississippi.
- A strong understanding of Federal and State environmental regulations, particularly the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act, is essential.
- Demonstrated people and project management experience in environmental affairs, focusing on permitting and compliance, is crucial for success in this role.
- The ideal candidate will possess leadership qualities and strategic thinking abilities, with a desire to learn quickly about the growing wood-pellet industry.
