Physical Requirements | Sitting for long periods of time; performing repetitive motion tasks; handling light-weight objects up to 10 pounds, and some standing or walking.
Shift | Primarily Monday – Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm with additional hours as needed to meet department operational needs.
Job Summary | The Director, Conflict of Interest Program, serves as the institutional leader responsible for the development, oversight, and continuous improvement of the University of Kentucky’s Conflict of Interest and Commitment (COIC) compliance program. This position acts as the university’s designated Conflict of Interest Administrator and leads a team that includes the Office of Accountability. The Director ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional COI regulations and policies across academic, research, and healthcare entities. This role involves high-level collaboration with university leadership and cross-functional partners, strategic policy development, risk mitigation, training, and system oversight.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities |
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? | No
Preferred Education/Experience | Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Public Policy, or related field. Minimum 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in compliance, ethics, research administration, or internal audit At least 2 years of supervisory or strategic leadership experience In-depth knowledge of federal COI regulations (e.g., PHS, NIH, NSF) Strong communication, collaboration, and analytical skills Experience working with multiple partners and managing complex projects Proficiency with compliance and enterprise systems Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) or equivalent Experience in higher education or academic medical centers Familiarity with SAP, research systems, and disclosure platforms Prior experience conducting or supporting audits or investigations Advanced degree (e.g., JD, MPA, MBA)
