Job Description
Seaboard Energy is seeking a Director of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Sales in Shawnee, KS. This role involves maximizing RNG sales and environmental credits, developing market strategies, negotiating contracts, and collaborating with internal teams. Key responsibilities include managing a diverse RNG project portfolio, driving growth, and ensuring alignment with financial goals. Candidates should have a relevant degree and experience in sales and market strategy.
SUMMARY: The Director of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Sales, reporting to the Vice President of Sales & Marketing, is responsible for maximizing the value of RNG sales and associated environmental credits (RINs, LCFS). This customer-facing role leads market strategy, pricing, and distribution efforts to drive profitability across the RNG portfolio. Acting as the voice of the customer, they collaborate with internal teams to align operations with market needs. The role includes developing market plans, negotiating contracts, and leveraging data insights to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic and Tactical Growth
• Develop and execute high-level strategies to drive the growth and success of the RNG business.
• Oversee and manage a growing diverse portfolio of 11 existing RNG projects, while actively pursuing and acquiring new opportunities.
• Identify and secure new RNG projects and partnerships by exploring markets beyond the current footprint to maximize profitability
• Collaborate with Sales and Marketing leadership to develop new sales strategies and innovative business models for RNG
• Investigate value propositions associated with products or assets, bringing the highest value to our fuels.
• Ensure alignment with financial objectives.
Maximizing Value from Assets
• Review the forecast of fuel available for sale from and determine amounts to be offered.
• Negotiate and review contracts, including pricing, terms, and credit components (RINs, LCFS, etc.), in collaboration with Legal to secure favorable deals.
• Develop market-driven strategies and relationships that enhance competitive pricing and maximize the value of RNG credits
• Work with Seaboard Foods Credit to optimize credit risk versus monthly business volume needed.
• Analysis and verification of financial and logistics metrics to verify objectives are met.
• Formulate and implement risk management policies and strategies to optimize trade flows and manage market risks ensuring effective mitigation strategies are in place.
Operational Excellence
• Work with internal groups including pathways, compliance and accounting teams to develop and maintain fuel pathway applications to maximize the value of environmental attributes/renewable energy credits.
• Be the primary conduit to the customer on all compliance obligations and needs Seaboard Foods may have associated with the sale (i.e., establishing contractual pathways, affidavits, etc.).
• Collaborate closely with internal teams—Operations, Accounting, Compliance, Business Intelligence, and Pathways—to resolve sales issues and ensure seamless project execution.
• Determine and communicate to the business fuel specifications and requirements specific to end users.
• Build and foster strong relationships with project developers, partners, and regulatory agencies to enhance the RNG business.

• Bachelor's degree in business, Economics, Science, or a related field preferred
• Experience in energy commodities scheduling or managing schedulers
• Proficient in all Microsoft Office products and ability to provide feedback to team members to leverage our assets and use leased assets to control costs but get us the best options while managing risk
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Strong customer-facing skills and ability to conduct business using Seaboard Energy values and objectives to guide behavior
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Some travel required

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Days/M-F. The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Occasional changes in schedule may be required as special circumstances arise.
