Climate17 is seeking a Development Project Manager for Data Centre projects in Greater Manchester. The role involves overseeing project planning, coordination, and permits to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in commercial real estate development, strong problem-solving skills, and knowledge of construction processes. Responsibilities include managing budgets, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Development Project Manager – Data Centre
We are partnering with a renewable energy global EPC project developer.
The role is to oversee the planning, coordination, and permits processing of data centre projects to a ready to build status.
Candidates must ensure that each project is completed on time, within budget, and meets the quality standards set by the company and its stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the projects, interfacing with stakeholders, and ensuring that all project requirements are completed on time and within budget.
The ideal candidates are experienced professionals with a minimum 5-year experience in commercial real estate development, have excellent problem-solving abilities and a thorough understanding of large-scale industrial unit construction processes and procedures.
Responsibilities:
• Have a good understanding of data centre requirements. (transferable knowledge is acceptable).
• Identify and evaluate potential development opportunity sites.
• Have a good understanding of the planning act process with local authorities across the UK.
• Work with the land manages to close option and lease contracts.
• Conduct and analyse market research to assess feasibility of projects.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to design and plan projects for planning submission.
• Develop and manage project budgets / cashflow and timelines.
• Manage risks and resolve issues that affect project scope, schedule, and costs.
• Oversee all stages of project lifecycle, from site finding, through the planning application process to ready to build status.
• Attend public consultation events.
• Coordinate with legal professionals to ensure all necessary permits and licenses are acquired.
• Ensure all legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements are met
• Negotiate contracts with planning consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor project progress and address any issues or delays
• Communicate regularly with stakeholders, providing project updates and reports on a weekly basis.
• Ensure the project aligns with the company’s business goals and objectives
• Assess and manage project risks, implementing mitigation strategies as needed
• Oversee quality control procedures to ensure project standards are met
• Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.
• Develop comprehensive project plans to share with clients and other staff members.
• Travel around the UK.
Qualifications/Experience
• Proven work experience as a Data centre / Real Estate Development Project Manager or similar role.
• Experience in the real estate development or construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods and regulations.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively with a team and stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Driving licence. Need to have a vehicle.
