Role Description

The Software Engineering team at Form develops innovative internal and customer-facing tools that touch every part of Form’s product and company. We’re hiring a Data Platform Engineer for our Data Platform team, which is responsible for building and maintaining common data infrastructure and applications used across the company. This role will focus on building and supporting the systems that enable our battery scientists to execute lab workflows and consume test data, including data pipelines, downstream data tools, and our web-based applications for managing experiment metadata. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and be part of the growth of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible mission!

This role is hybrid out of one of our three locations.

What you'll do:
• Build upon our laboratory data pipeline to meet evolving battery testing requirements and improve data reliability and quality
• Develop and/or integrate data tools and systems. This could range from building a system for custom metrics development, to migrating business logic to a new platform, to developing a custom UI for data observability
• Monitor and optimize the use of cloud infrastructure and software-as-a-service providers
• Collaborate closely with members of Form’s battery engineering and R&D teams to deeply understand their needs and provide enablement and support
• Act as a collaborative member of a distributed software engineering team

What you'll bring:
• 2+ years of professional software engineering industry experience, including developing and maintaining systems in production environments
• Highly collaborative work style, marked by deep user empathy and curiosity
• Fluency in Python and SQL
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS (S3, RDS, EKS, Lambda, CloudWatch)
• Data engineering and analytics engineering experience a plus, including experience with one or more of the following: Kafka, Spark, Dagster, dbt, Snowflake, and Databricks
• Excitement for learning about the following (or bonus points for experience!): batteries, renewable energy, scientific research
