Job Description
The Ocean Wise Conservation Association is hiring a Coordinator for their Shoreline Cleanup program in Toronto, ON. This 6-month contract role involves planning events, outreach, data collection, and stakeholder communication to reduce plastic pollution. The ideal candidate is organized and community-focused, with experience in event coordination. While primarily based in Toronto, remote work is allowed when not leading events. Salary ranges from $53,000 to $59,000.

Role Summary
Reporting to the Manager of the Ocean Wise Shoreline Cleanup (OWSC) program, the OWSC Coordinator will work as part of the Shoreline Cleanup and Plastics team to support, grow and strengthen the program and the impact of our Plastics initiative as a whole, working towards our goal of radically reducing macro and micro plastic pollution. As the OWSC Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning and hosting Shoreline Champion events, volunteer and partner outreach, data collection, analysis and impact reporting, inventory tracking, and internal and external communication.
This is a 6-month contract based in Toronto, Canada, starting April 1st, 2025.

What You Will Be Doing
Major Accountabilities
• Planning and coordinating Shoreline Champion events, applying for event permits, responding to queries, completing data entry
• Planning and leading outreach activities to inspire and empower both individuals and groups to join us in completing cleanups
• Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Maintaining the Shoreline Cleanup litter database and contributing to impact reports, board reports and grant applications.

• Demonstrated experience in event coordination and delivery
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with corporate partners
• Professional oral and written communication skills, including excellent public speaking skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and remain calm under pressure
• Flexibility and ability to learn new skills very quickly
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team
• Ability to use Salesforce considered an asset
How You Will Be Measured
• Ability to effectively coordinate Shoreline Champion events, ensuring seamless logistics and positive relationships with partners
• Successful achievement of program goals and objectives including reaching event delivery targets and litter data collection rates
• Accurate and organized contribution to the Ocean Wise Shoreline Litter Database, including data reporting and analysis.
What We Offer
This 6-month contract position offers:
• A remote working environment, when not leading events, note this position must be located in Toronto.
• A competitive base salary, $53,000 - 59,000, in line with market data for not-for-profit organizations
• 4% pay in lieu of vacation
• 5 paid sick days, after 90 days.
• Paid Statutory and General Holidays each calendar year, if applicable.

Where and How You’ll Work
This position is based in Toronto, Canada. The role may require flexibility to travel for events and/or to work occasional weekends and evenings to attend Ocean Wise Shoreline Cleanups, events, and conferences.
The role involves driving, sitting, standing and talking for prolonged periods, exposure to outdoor environments with seasonal temperature fluctuations, and lifting heavy objects on a daily basis (up to 20 kgs to chest level). It also involves working on a computer screen for extended durations.
