Job Description

WWF-India is seeking a Coordinator/Lead for Policy and Advocacy in New Delhi. The role involves collaborating with state governments to integrate biodiversity goals into policies, conducting policy analysis, and organizing stakeholder meetings on the Global Biodiversity Framework. Candidates should have a Master's in Public Policy or related fields, with 8-10 years of experience in policy dialogue and environmental laws. Responsibilities include developing strategies, evaluating policies, and building partnerships to promote biodiversity conservation.
Job Profile:
• Work closely with state Governments to effectively integrate Global Biodiversity Framework Goals and Targets into plans, policies especially SBSAPs and district plans.
• Undertake policy analysis and identify strategic entry points for building awareness within diverse stakeholders on the linkages between biodiversity, climate change and sustainable development.
• Organise meetings/ roundtables at state level for demystifying Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework for diverse stakeholders.
• Follow CBD related discussions at multipleforasand platforms.
• Build convergence with GBF and SDG for mainstreaming across sectors.
• Strengthen collaboration with IBBI to engage with business stakeholders in implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
• Provide support to demystify the importance of biodiversity conservation for the constituencies in WWF-India landscapes.
• Support field teams to integrate biodiversity concerns in Gram Panchayat Development plans.
• Support WWF staff to represent WWF India effectively in various committees and follow up.
• Support development of policy briefs and outreach materials.
• Follow social media/other platforms to update GLP on aspects related to conservation and development.
• Any other tasks as assigned .

Requirements

Desired Qualifications, Experience and Abilities:
• Masters in Public Policy, Governance, development studies or a related field .
• Over 8 to 10 years of experience and involvement innational and sub national policy dialogue, engagement with governments at state and local levels, knowledge of environmental laws
• Research –Undertake research which involves gathering and analysing data and using it to strategise and develop policy briefs.
• Strategy development –Ability to consult stakeholders, experts and other decision-makers to build a successful, comprehensive strategy.
• Evidence-based policymaking –Draw on facts and evidence to support and develop effective cases and arguments.
• Policy evaluation – Evaluate existing policies, proposed amendments as well as assess policies yet to be formed as needed.
• Develop partnerships and networks -Collaborate closely and work with partners, be inclusive and open to ideas
• Maintain and build relationships- Ability towork with Government officials and sustain relationships.
