Job Description
Energy Australia is seeking a Controls Testing Lead in Victoria to enhance compliance management within the Customer Compliance Performance team. The role involves designing and executing testing programs, analyzing results to identify control gaps, and improving testing methodologies. Candidates should have extensive experience in assurance or controls testing, particularly in risk compliance, and strong stakeholder engagement skills. Familiarity with the energy sector's regulatory environment is preferred.

About the Team
The Customer Compliance Performance team is undergoing significant transformation, creating exciting new opportunities to join at a pivotal time, where you will have the chance to make a meaningful impact. This team provides specialist compliance expertise to the Customer Business Unit, supporting effective compliance management and ensuring EnergyAustralia’s regulatory obligations, governance systems, processes, and frameworks meet both industry standards and customer expectations. About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Customer Compliance Performance Team, as a Controls Testing Lead. In this role, you will lead the design and execution of testing programs for controls, to assess and uplift the design and effectiveness of key compliance controls. This role drives insights through testing, partnering with stakeholders to close gaps, and continuously enhancing testing methodologies, to strengthen compliance assurance across the Business Unit. Other aspects of the role include:
• Oversee and manage the quality control testing framework to detect potential noncompliance with business processes, obligations and regulatory requirements
• Develop annual programs aligned with the Business Unit’s risk priorities
• Analyse testing results to identify control gaps, trends, and opportunities for improvement
• Provide input into the broader Controls Assurance function by highlighting trends and opportunities in controls testing that could inform strategies or work plans
• Continually improve testing methodologies, procedures, and quality standards in line with business context and technological advancements
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience in similar assurance or controls testing role risk compliance or assurance role, with a strong understanding of in designing and conducting control testing, particularly in the context of compliance or risk management. Other things we’re keen on include:
• Prior experience working within risk, compliance, internal audit, or similar functions
• A deep understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance controls
• Being familiar with the regulatory environment of the Energy sector is highly desirable
• Analytical mindset, with a strong ability to analyse testing results, identify trends, gaps, or weaknesses, and synthesise findings into clear & actionable recommendations
• Adaptable and proactive, ready to tackle challenges in a dynamic setting
• Strong stakeholder engagement experience, with the ability to communicate and influence various stakeholders effectively, including senior leaders
