Winrock International is seeking a remote Contracted Technical Specialist for Greenhouse Gas Mitigation in Agriculture. The role involves providing technical support on GHG emissions accounting and mitigation strategies in agricultural supply chains. The specialist will develop training materials, support decarbonization strategies, and engage with stakeholders. POSITION TITLE: Contracted Technical Specialist, GHG Mitigation in Agriculture
BackgroundWinrock International (Winrock) is recruiting a Contracted Technical Specialist with knowledge and experience in supporting clients on GHG emissions accounting, mitigation impact assessment and project implementation in agricultural supply chains. This role will help expand Winrock's capacity to provide technical support and training for Winrock client's and their suppliers.

Scope of Work

Proficiency in English and ability to coordinate with Eastern Standard Time hours is required.

The specialist must be available to meet with Winrock staff based in the United States during Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours. Additionally, the specialist must have flexibility to meet during some business hours for our clients in Malaysia Time (MTY) and Central European Time (CET), as needed. This is a remote, part-time role, with flexible hours based on weekly client demands. We estimate the consultancy needs to be anywhere from 4 - 20 hours per week on average. No travel is required.
• Work closely with Winrock and external stakeholders to address technical advisory requests, support client's on decarbonization strategies for agricultural commodities.
• Develop knowledge products and training materials related to GHG mitigation in agriculture to ensure the technical rigor and credibility of GHG mitigation strategies, in alignment with key industry standards.
Deliverables
• Support project ideation efforts and development of decarbonization strategies for select agricultural commodities, including but not limited to palm oil, cocoa, and sucrose.
• Support knowledge product development on critical topics, such as Land Use Change, that outline requirements with recognized GHG accounting standards (e.g., GHG Protocol, Science-Based Targets Initiative, Value Change Initiative).
• Develop training materials related to decarbonization strategies and agricultural practices that can be leveraged in select commodities and geographies. Critical topics may include biochar, land use change, and biogas.
• Engage in stakeholder communications with project developers, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Provide technical advisory support on select technical advisory requests related to GHG accounting and decarbonization strategies.
• Coordinate with Winrock to ensure seamless project execution and follow-up actions.
Timeline and Duration Preferred start date: April 21, 2025. 8-12 weeks with potential of extension.Payment and BudgetThe consultant will send a monthly invoice based on actual hours worked. When applying for the project, please provide your hourly rate.CONSULTANT QUALIFICATIONSExperience
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in agriculture and GHG accounting required.
• Knowledge of greenhouse gas profiles and potential mitigation strategies of agricultural commodities, particularly palm oil, cocoa, and sucrose
• Experience building relationships and engaging with clients and other stakeholders
Position-Specific Skills
• Fluency in English is required
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment.
