Job Description
Environmental Resources Management, Inc. is seeking a mid-level Consultant for Site Remediation in Boston, MA. The role involves project and task management, fieldwork, data interpretation, and health and safety compliance for environmental site investigations. Candidates should have a relevant degree and 3-5 years of experience. The position requires regional travel and office work, with a preference for local candidates.
ERM is seeking an associate level Consultant with limited Site Investigation and Remediation experience to support our current and growing project workload in our Boston, Massachusetts office.
This staff person will work within our Liability Portfolio Management and Remediation (LPMR) practice in Boston, MA.
In this role, you will provide project and task management, technical and field assistance on environmental site investigation and remediation projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participate in and support the LPMR practice in the Boston, MA office with a wide variety of services and projects including but not limited to:
• Conduct field work, including soil, sediment, ground water, and surface water sampling, aquifer testing, drilling oversight and soil logging, soil boring and monitoring well installation, well development, purging and sampling, and construction oversight.
• Task management including; coordinate and direct drilling, surveying, and laboratory services. Conduct, supervise and lead field work, including soil, sediment, groundwater and vapor intrusion sampling.
• Assist in data interpretation and preparation of site workplans, spreadsheets, figures, and technical reports.
• Prepare and help implement health and safety requirements on projects.
• Perform multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
• Support ERM Partners-in-Charge and Project Managers to effectively manage projects.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, environmental science, environmental management or related discipline.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant environmental experience or professional internships.
• Detail-oriented with mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting/problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to succeed in a consulting pace, handling multiple project assignments, and maintaining flexibility, while meeting strict deadlines.
• Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus.
• Strong hands-on spreadsheet and data comprehension. GIS/CAD skills a plus.
• HAZWOPER training is a plus.
• Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• 50% of time regional travels; 20% office work
• Local candidates preferred.
