Job Description
ERM is hiring a Consultant- Net Zero (Associate Level) in London to support corporate sustainability and climate change initiatives. Responsibilities include developing GHG inventories, identifying reduction opportunities, advising on offsets, and monitoring progress. Candidates should have a degree in an environmental field, experience in environmental consulting, and knowledge of GHG accounting principles. The position allows for flexible working arrangements, including hybrid/home working.
ERM is seeking a motivated consultant to join our corporate sustainability and climate change team, focusing on supporting our Net Zero services.
The risks associated with a changing climate are recognized as systemic to the global economy. Pressure is increasing from investors, regulators, customers, and society for business and governments to transition to a lower carbon economy. ERM is positioned to help our clients navigate this transition, from strategic advice to practical implementation.
The role involves services such as:
Developing corporate GHG inventories (scope 1, 2, and 3) aligned with industry best practices, including portfolio GHG inventories for financial clients; Identifying GHG reduction opportunities in operations and the value chain, integrating these into climate action roadmaps; Advising on offsets; Setting targets aligned with stakeholder expectations and the Paris Agreement; Monitoring and reporting GHG inventories and progress (e.g., CDP, SBTi, Corporate Reports); Acting as a trusted advisor on GHG accounting, reporting, and target setting trends. The successful candidate will work closely with the climate change and corporate sustainability teams and may assist in areas like sustainability strategy, due diligence, EHS performance, and risk management.
Primary Responsibilities
Analyze and interpret technical information to understand commercial implications; Manage client demands and time-sensitive requests; Manage projects and proposals; Build client relationships through account management and project delivery. The candidate must meet personal billability and other targets.
Technical knowledge required
Degree in environmental field; Experience in environmental consulting, climate change, or related roles; Understanding of ESG/sustainability issues in finance; Knowledge of GHG accounting/reporting principles (e.g., GHG Protocol, SBTi); Ability to identify and justify methodologies; Knowledge of climate change and ESG regulatory and market drivers. Technical skills
Experience managing projects or tasks; Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel; Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; Business development and proposal writing experience; Numeracy skills with large datasets; Strong presentation and report writing skills. Other requirements
