Job Description

WRI India is seeking a Consultant for its Food, Land and Water program in New Delhi. The role involves conducting quantitative data analysis related to agriculture policies and sustainable practices. Candidates should have a master's degree in a relevant field and 7-10 years of experience in data analysis. The consultant will contribute to knowledge products aimed at enhancing sustainable agriculture and reducing food waste, with a focus on circular economy strategies.

Program Overview for Food, Land and Water:

WRI India’s Food, Land and Water program aims to inform India’s transition towards sustainable and resilient food and land use systems focusing on developing interdisciplinary nature-based solutions like landscape restoration, sustainable agriculture to mitigate climate impacts, enhance jobs and livelihoods and improve nutritional security. To catalyse systems, change with a focus on circular food systems in India, we also focus on developing equitable strategies to reduce food loss and food waste and mitigate climate impacts.

With broader systems change and food systems perspective, we work with diverse stakeholders like governments, businesses, civil society partners and farmer producer organizations to inform and develop land use strategies based on robust evidence and analysis to build the resilience of local communities to mitigate climate impacts, bridge capacity gaps, monitor progress, and inform a pathway to building a restoration economy for people, nature, and climate.
• *About your role:**

The candidate for this role must have strong statistical and analytical skills, along with professional experience of research in agriculture/forestry/rural development. The Consultant is expected to contribute to high-quality knowledge products scheduled to be completed by September 2025 to strengthen the ecosystem and incentives for sustainable agriculture and to determine pathways to enable circularity of agriculture waste. You will be someone who has a specialized degree in agriculture economics/statistics/data science/finance and has a passion for working in the sustainable production systems in India. Within a short-term consultancy period the candidate is expected to deliver -

- Quantitative data gathering and analysis of scheme/program-wise budget allocation, budget utilization, market trends, agriculture waste generation, etc. to inform ongoing research work on agriculture policies and acircular economy at national and sub-national levels.

- Contribute to literature review, developing methodologies, scripting and editing of knowledge products.
• *Qualifications and requirements we seek:


- Master’s degree in economics, statistics, finance, econometrics, agriculture economics, data science, a related discipline with exposure to the subject area of agriculture, forestry, rural development, etc.
- Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience in large data handling, coding, analysis, and scripting.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to analyze economic data related to agriculture. Prior experience with budget analysis and policy research will be plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and part of an interdisciplinary team.
- You are expected to bring research and communication skills and be comfortable with interdisciplinary, inter-programmatic, geographically dispersed teams.
- Ability to present complex information
- Fluency in written English is essential.
Remuneration

It shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.

Duration:
The position is for 4 months (extendable based on performance and project requirements). The start date is as soon as possible.
