Job Description

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is offering a full-time, 18-week Conservation and Ecosystem Management Traineeship starting March 24, 2025. This paid traineeship focuses on developing skills for unemployed and disadvantaged job seekers in bush regeneration and horticulture. Participants will gain a Certificate 1 in Conservation and accredited training, while receiving support for future employment. Eligible applicants must be Queensland residents aged 15 or older, unemployed, and not enrolled in school.
Traineeship Start date: 24th March, 2025

Work Skills Traineeships are focused on developing vocational and employability skills for long term unemployed and disadvantaged job seekers and providing them with a pathway to employment.

Conservation and Ecosystem Management Traineeship at

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and Garima Conservation Reserve

This Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) project is proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government.

National Trust Australia Queensland (NTAQ) is seeking 10 people interested in starting a career in bush regeneration / horticulture / ecosystem management.
• You will undertake a PAID full time 18-week traineeship:
• Gain a Certificate 1 in Conservation and Ecosystem Management
• Gain accredited training in Senior First Aid, White Card, ACDC Chemical Operators Certificate and Operate and Maintain Chainsaws.
• Undertake practical work and skills in bush regeneration, native plant propagation, tree planting, track maintenance and other tasks aligned with your training.
• Receive assistance to gain work following the traineeship.

If you are a person who is interested in learning skills to work outdoors and help restore our native vegetation and wildlife habitat, this is the traineeship is for you!!

Earn while you learn! First Nations peoples are especially welcomed to apply.

This program is to provide support and skills to disadvantaged jobseekers. This traineeship is an entry-level role aimed at individuals interested in work in the conservation and ecosystem management industry.

Who is eligible?
• Participants must be:
• Queensland residents
• Aged 15 years or older
• An Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on a pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen.
• Unemployed
• No longer enrolled in school or studying full time
• Must pass a national police check
