Job Description
The Fremont Soil & Water Conservation District is hiring a temporary Conservation Technician in Sidney, IA. The role involves providing technical assistance for conservation practices, requiring both office and fieldwork. Position: Conservation Technician
-Temporary Position (part-time/full-time)
-Target start date June and position ending when grant funds have been exhausted or before August 29th, 2025.
-Located at 503 West St, Sidney, IA, 51652.
Job Description
-This position involves providing technical assistance planning and applying conservation practices as it relates to all federal and state conservation programs. Time will be spent in the office providing technical support, and in the field working with landowners to promote conservation to improve soil health, water quality, and habitat. This position is grant funded and has workload requirements that must be completed, documented, and reported.
Duties
-Provide courteous customer service to develop positive relationships with landowners, operators, and contractors in an office and field setting.
-Become knowledgeable about conservation programs, practices, planning, and implementation requirements.
-Complete technical design, layout, and checkout of conservation practices according to state and/or federal standards and specifications.
Qualifications
-Experience and knowledge of agriculture, conservation, or related field
-Must be able to work independently to complete assigned tasks by deadlines
-Computer experience and willingness to learn new programs
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Requirements
-Must fulfill workload requirements
-Must be able to pass federal background check
-Maintain valid driver’s license
-Ability to work outside in hot or inclement weather, walk long distances, and ambulate on rough/slippery or uneven terrain for extended periods of time
Supervision
-Successful candidate will be employed by the Soil and Water Conservation District and daily duties will be assigned by District Conservationist.
Compensation Range
$15-$18/hr.
