Job Description

The Conservation Tech II position at Trinity County Resource Conservation District involves conducting ecological monitoring tasks such as Northern Spotted Owl surveys and salmon spawning surveys. This full-time, temporary role runs from April to September 2026, offering $21 per hour, flexible scheduling, paid leave, medical benefits, and retirement options. Candidates must be able to hike in rugged terrain and possess a valid California Driver's license.
This position will be conducting Northern Spotted Owl surveys, in-stream water temperature monitoring, spawning salmon surveys, and additional multi-disciplinary opportunities. This is a full-time, temporary position with pay of $21.00 per hour. The position will run from April to September 2026. The position has flexible scheduling, paid leave, medical benefits, and retirement options.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualifications of this position will need to be addressed in your application or interview: 1. Ability to hike upwards of 6 miles through rugged terrain, carrying up to 30 pounds 2. Ability to lift 50 pounds 3. Ability to work independently or as a team to complete tasks, sometimes with minimal direct supervision 4. Ability to complete work safely in a backcountry setting with a crew of 2-4 people 5. Ability to follow verbal or written protocols, communicate effectively, and independently solve problems 6. Flexibility to assist with interdisciplinary tasks 7. Possession of a valid California Driver’s licenseMinimum Education and Experience
