Job Description

The State of California is hiring a Conservation Program Manager in Rancho Cordova, CA. The role involves overseeing environmental program requirements, managing staffing and budgets, and serving as a subject matter expert on conservation issues. The position requires in-office work with occasional travel for training and meetings. It is a permanent, full-time role with a salary range of $10,538.00 - $13,100.00.
Under the general direction and guidance of the Environmental Program Manager, the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) serves as the Conservation Program Section Chief. Primary duties of the position include oversight of all technical program requirements, including National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) analyses and documentation, natural resources management programs, cultural resources management programs, the Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration (REPI) Program, and other related tasks. The position's duties include managing staffing, executing the Conservation program budget, contracting, setting program priorities, interpreting and implementing policies, and strategic planning. Serves as the senior subject matter expert and manages the most complex environmental conservation issues. The position will occasionally conduct work at other CMD facilities statewide and/or travel in or out state to attend training, conferences, or meetings.

Department Information
As an employee of the CA Military Department (CMD), you are required to perform the "essential functions" of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. You are expected to work cooperatively with all internal/external staff, to provide the highest level of customer service possible while meeting the CMD mission. All employees are required to treat others fairly, honestly, and with respect.

The CMD has free parking; a free gym on-site for employees; and conveniently located within a few miles of major shopping centers, including many restaurants.

Persons employed at the California Military Department must be a United States Citizen (or naturalized citizen) and able to pass a background investigation and LiveScan fingerprinting.
• This position may/may not be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the CMD and based on the current telework policy. While the CMD supports telework where possible, in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksite with minimal notification if an urgent need arises, as determined by the Department.

• Supervising and managing employees, including organizing and tracking work products, staffing levels and roles, progressive discipline and related personnel matters.
