About the position

The Conservation Easement Planner III position at the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources focuses on protecting agricultural land and open spaces through the establishment of conservation easements. The role involves working closely with landowners, agricultural producers, and various stakeholders to promote land conservation and ensure the preservation of Utah's natural resources and wildlife habitats.

Responsibilities
• Acquire conservation easements and promote land conservation
,
• Develop relationships with key state and federal agencies and funding partners
,
• Negotiate easement contracts
,
• Review easement applications from outsider parties
,
• Write technical reports and articles
,
• Acquire Geographic Information System (GIS) data
,
• Write grant proposals and necessary supporting documents

Requirements
• Experience in real estate transactions, title work associated with property transfers, or property rights
,
• High degree of self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision
,
• Ability to work with technical and professional staff, elected officials, and local stakeholders
,
• Ability to read maps and navigate to project sites
,
• Ability to lead multiple projects with varying deadlines, requirements, and complexities
,
• Detail-oriented yet broadly mission-aware
,
• Experience with GIS, Word, Excel, and database management
,
• Capability to quickly learn new software systems provided by NRCS and UDAF
,
• Ability to find creative, pragmatic solutions to problems and improve processes
,
• Excellence in both written and verbal communication
,
• Ability to work with diverse backgrounds and interests with a positive attitude
