Job Description
Kupu is seeking Conservation Corps Members for its Conservation Leadership Development Program (CLDP) in Kahului, HI. This paid program is for individuals aged 17 and older interested in conservation, offering 6- to 11-month full-time positions across various Hawaiian islands and Pacific locations. Participants will receive a living stipend, healthcare, and educational benefits. The program matches members with Host Sites based on their conservation interests. KUPU:
Kupu is a nonprofit organization that partners with over 170 organizations each year to host environmental stewardship and education programs. Kupu opportunities span from the high school to professional level, all with the common goal to empower participants to serve their communities and environment. Our mission is to empower youth to serve their communities through character-building, service-learning, and environmental stewardship opportunities that encourage pono (integrity) with ke Akua (God), self, and others.
CONSERVATION LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM:
The Kupu Conservation Leadership Development Program (CLDP) is a paid program for early professionals (ages 17+) interested in conservation! The CLDP matches program members with a Host Site (or partner organization) that best aligns with their conservation interests. Depending on the term selected, participants will serve for at least 6 months up to 1 year. With an extensive network of Host Sites across Hawai’i and the Pacific, the CLDP offers opportunities in ornithology, botany, natural resource management, aquatic resource management, marine biology, Hawaiian cultural studies, agricultural science and more!
PROGRAM DETAILS:
Term lengths offered
• Seasonal: 6 months
• Yearlong: 11 months
Availability offered:
• Only full-time positions offered, 40 hours per week
Locations offered:
• Hawai’i Island, Kaua’i, Maui, Moloka’i, O’ahu, American Samoa, CNMI Saipan & Rota, and Guam
Term dates:
• Program start dates offered on a rolling basis! Check the website for more details
• Start dates offered in July, August, October, November, December, and more.
BENEFITS:
• Segal AmeriCorps Education Award
• Seasonal: $3.697.50
• Yearlong: $7,395.00
• Living Stipend equivalent to $14.50 - $18.00 per hour, depending on island of service

• Student loan forbearance and interest payments, if eligible
• Professional development and mentorship provided throughout term

HOST SITE LOCATIONS:
The CLDP includes a matchmaking process, in which our team helps match you with a Host Site that is best aligned with your interests and career goals! Host Sites are offered across Hawai’i, they include non-profit organizations and government agencies. Each Host Site offers unique service opportunities! Examples include:
• Hawai’i Island - Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park, Mauna Kea Watershed Alliance
• Kaua’i - Kauaʻi Invasive Species Committee, State of Hawaiʻi DLNR DOFAW, Kōkeʻe Resource Conservation Program
• Maui - Hawaiʻi Land Trust, Mauna Kahālāwai Watershed Partnership, Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, Grow Some Good
• Moloka’i - Molokaʻi Land Trust
• O’ahu - NPS Pearl Harbor National Memorial, ʻAhahui Mālama I Ka Lōkahi, Hawaiʻi Nature Center
