Great Parks of Hamilton County is hiring part-time Conservation and Parks Technicians for natural areas monitoring and nursery assistance. The role involves outdoor labor, including land management and data collection, primarily in the Harrison, OH area. Applicants should have a background in natural resources or horticulture. The position is flexible, requiring 20-30 hours per week, mainly weekdays with some weekends. Pay is $14.65 per hour.
Join our team as a Part Time Conservation and Parks Technician. Our team is hiring for two natural areas monitoring and management technicians who will also assist with our native plant nursery as needed. The positions will report to Winton Woods, but work will occur throughout the park district. Assignments will take place at Shaker Trace Nursery in Miami Whitewater Forest as needed.

A successful Part Time Conservation and Parks Technician performs a variety of labor in natural areas. This position is an excellent opportunity to work outdoors and gain conservation skills.

The C&P tech assists in land management activities, such as treating for invasive plant species to maintain native habitats, and monitoring activities, such as herptile surveys and plant surveys. The C&P tech also assists with seedling care, transplanting, weeding production beds, and daily tasks associated with running a native plant nursery. Our technicians may work alone or with coworkers on regular duties, with guidance from their supervisor. Successful applicants must be comfortable performing manual labor and collecting data outdoors in all weather conditions during spring and summer months. Some weekends or evenings will be required, though this is primarily a weekday position. A strong background in natural resources, biology, environmental sciences, or horticulture is preferred. Native plant and animal identifications skills are a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS
An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is:
• High School degree or GED and some prior experience or education in natural resources, parks & recreation, horticulture, or related field.
• Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.

LICENSE OF CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License that meets Great Parks current carrier guidelines.
