Job Description
The Panaro Group LLC is seeking a Component Engineer for Energy Management in Burr Ridge, IL. The role involves designing, developing, and validating advanced energy management systems, optimizing components like batteries and alternators, and performing vehicle electrical balance calculations. Responsibilities include developing test requirements, analyzing energy systems, and coordinating with suppliers. A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and at least one year of experience in energy components are required.
Job Description
Position Summary:
Responsible for Designing, Developing and Validating Advanced Energy Management Systems covering various system voltage ranges, including intelligent power management, Start/Stop, smart alternator, vehicle voltage systems 12/24V and greater.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Perform engineering work, managing, development and design of existing and new advance energy product/systems
• Responsible to define proper sizing and optimizing for battery, alternator, starter
• Responsible for vehicle electrical balance calculation, both static and dynamic: validation of current absorption for each vehicle devices, defining percentage of use for each devices in different condition (winter/summer)
• Responsible for evaluations, assessments and recommendations for robustness levels on advance energy components within company specified standards
• Develop test and validation requirements for advance energy components
• Analyze and evaluate new or improved Advance Energy System
• Develops technology roadmaps , trend, benchmark for advance energy systems
• Participate in problem resolutions of energy components utilizing industry known best practices such as 8D, and 5Why,
• Contributes in recommendations to applications and systems team on best in class utilization of energy components,
• Responsible for preparation of designs, layouts and drawings for sensor component hardware developed and/or improved,
• Supports application, sub-system and system engineering teams with preparation of reports,
• Responsible in the facilitation of communication between engineering, manufacturing, quality and other functional areas within multi-disciplinary product development team environments,
• Responsible for Design Of Experiments and Design Validation testing, as well as, the recognition and recommendation of design and validation gaps covering existing Off The Self technologies and custom developed hardware,
• Responsible for the technical liaison with suppliers,
• Responsible for internal customer satisfaction, documenting processes and best practices as well as reviewing detailed engineering drawings and releasing parts production procurement for global operations,
• Responsible for recommendation and implementation of test equipment, disassemble experimental components, oversight of corrective actions and ownership in determining the cause of failures and/or travel to supplier sites as needed to facilitate communication between engineering and suppliers,
• Responsible for the reporting and implementation of improvements to product engineering teams for execution based on knowledge gained through cross-functional interactions at the suppliers,
• Responsible for the coordination of energy management projects and their progress, interfacing regularly with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components and compliance to company requirements, specifications, standards and 2D/3D engineering documentation, interacting directly with interval customer agreeing on packaging constraints and technical requirements as well as drive required timing of delivery,
Skill Set
The qualified candidate will have: • A bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering or related field. • A minimum of 1 year experience in energy components • In-depth knowledge of Energy components technologies including: alternator, smart alternator (LIN regulator) starter, battery, battery sensor with a professional discipline. • Knowledge of Vehicle Communication Protocol (CAN, LIN) and their functional requirements • Ability to understand algorithms and Vehicle function (interaction between Vehicles ECUs) • Management experience covering various system voltage ranges, power moding, including intelligent power management and vehicle voltage systems greater than 24V • Possess strong communication skills and the ability to engage and correspond with global network of teams, colleagues and interfaces in which English may be a second language. Preferred Qualifications: • OEM experience or Tier 1 experience preferred but not required. • Communication skills in foreign languages preferred but not required • Possess the ability to appropriately administer and deliver communication and updates to various level within the organization up to but not limited to section Vice President. • Possess the ability to delegate activities, work, and requests to other work colleagues within and external to functional and reporting group.
