Job Description

The Communications Specialist position at beBee Careers in Winnipeg, MB focuses on promoting sustainable building practices. Sustainable building practices and environmentally responsible development are crucial for creating healthier, more energy-efficient, and environmentally-friendly built environments. As a Communications Coordinator, you will play a vital role in promoting these principles through various initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain and update SBM's WordPress website with new content, including videos, blog posts, event listings, and retrofit guides.
• Reorganize and improve site navigation to support a positive user experience.
• Evaluate and ensure all website content meets accessibility standards under Manitoba law.
• Collaborate with team members to format, edit, and post a growing library of home retrofit content.
• Support content development and testing of the Manitoba Home Retrofit Guide.
• Monitor website performance and recommend improvements.
• Assist with social media, newsletters, and event promotion as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
• Pursuing or holding a degree/diploma in Communications, Web Design, Marketing, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
• Strong experience with WordPress, including content uploading, formatting, and basic layout adjustments.
• Familiarity with website accessibility principles and best practices.
• Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
• Basic graphic and/or video editing skills (e.g., Canva, simple editing platforms).
• Experience with MailChimp, Buffer, Google Suite, or similar tools is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a flexible environment.
• Interest in sustainability and climate action is a strong asset.

This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs.
