Job Description
The American Society of Adaptation Professionals is hiring a Communications Manager to enhance communication strategies for its members and partners. The role involves managing content across email, social media, and the website, producing marketing materials, and executing communication plans. The manager will collaborate with the team to improve engagement and support organizational goals, while also representing ASAP at external events.
ASAP Communications Manager (Remote-US)
The American Society of Adaptation Professionals (“ASAP”) is seeking to hire an experienced Communications Manager to support its membership and partner climate adaptation professionals and practitioners.
The Communications Manager will provide high-quality relationships, processes, campaigns, content, and services for all of ASAP’s communication channels: direct email, website, social media, and marketing materials.
The Communications Manager will be an integral member of the ASAP Staff Team with the critical role of sharing program opportunities and accomplishments, lifting member stories, building the ASAP brand, and strengthening climate adaptation work through compelling, timely communications that serve ASAP Members, partners, funders, and external media.

• Plan and manage content across all of ASAP's communication channels, which include but are not limited to
• Direct Email: Ensure timely production of ASAP's direct email campaigns via MailChimp, including standing member-facing publications, a monthly newsletter, and event/program promotions.
• Social Media: Manage ASAP's social media presence (LinkedIn) which amplifies ASAP content and partner content for current and prospective members.
• Website: Maintain and expand ASAP’s website as a cultural exchange platform for current and prospective ASAP Members, partners, funders, and stakeholders, as well as current climate adaptation policy briefs, tools, training and externally published resources.
• Marketing Materials: Plan updates and revisions to current marketing materials and design of new materials.
• Upscale processes for new and revised print and digitized versions of marketing materials that support programming, internal and external events.
• Manage team through the creative process to curate, synthesize, proofread, and design written content, pictures, graphics, and videos across all communication channels.
• Collaborate with executive staff to design and execute communications plans for ASAP’s programs, projects, and organizational advancement efforts.
• Refine and improve network communications, by responding to member feedback based on tracking, analyzing, synthesizing and reporting communication engagement data.
• Represent ASAP on planning and working groups, and external media events
• Design and publish materials, promotional and process documents for ASAP presence at conferences and external events.
• Plan, manage, and execute communications across channels and media for ASAP’s external projects.
• Support in-house relations with organizational members, in collaboration with the CRM Manager, i.e. orientation, engagement reports and surveys.
• Design and lead campaigns for development/fundraising messaging and planning
• Publish annual reports, guides, handbooks directed toward internal and external funders, membership groups and external audiences
• Support the internal and external success of ASAP through (1) ideation and design of innovative engagement and value creation for our membership; (2) relevant workplace development, team building, strategic and tactical implementation of reporting, outreach and responses to adaptation challenges; and (3) continuous care and outreach to current and potential donors, funders, sponsors, partners, and collaborators.
• Salary Range and Travel Requirements
The Communications Manager position is a remote-, full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, U.S. Eastern Time. This position requires limited travel for internal meetings with staff, external meetings with clients, or 2-3 regional/national conferences per year.
The Communications Manager position requires that the candidate be physically located in the United States or its territories. The position does not support individuals requiring an H-1-B Visa for the United States.
ASAP offers a fully remote environment, a suite of customary benefits (vacation, sick/family leave, disability), as well as health insurance (including a health savings account (HSA), disability and long-term care insurance, retirement planning, and professional development opportunities. The salary range for this position is $62, 000- $68,000 annually based on experience and education.
Applicants must have a minimum of
• BA/BS degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business or related field or equivalent education/ training;
• 7-10 years of experience in communications, public relations, management or analytical consulting; and a
• High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Express, Eventbrite, Google Workspace, MailChimp and other media monitoring tools/services.
• Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.
