Description:
The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Communications, Engagement, and Government Relations Lead to join the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) Project Team. This is a two-year secondment based in Brisbane CBD with occasional travel to project sites in Ormeau and Torbanlea. As part of the Passenger Rollingstock and Signalling Branch (PRS), you will play a pivotal role in delivering effective communication strategies and managing key government relationships for this transformative infrastructure initiative.

In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of communication plans, engage with diverse stakeholders, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations. You will also mentor and develop the internal team to build long-term capability within the PRS Branch.

Key Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for developing and executing communication strategies for the QTMP, ensuring alignment with project goals and external requirements. This includes managing stakeholder engagement with local communities, government entities, and industry groups while overseeing media relations to maintain accurate and consistent public messaging. You will advise on government relations, collaborating with accessibility stakeholders, user groups, and public officials to enhance engagement. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with the communication and stakeholder obligations outlined in the Project Deed and lead the mentoring and capability development of the communications, engagement, and government relations team.

Skills and Experiences:
What we are looking for:
Ideally, you will have:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.



Minimum 5 years' experience in:

Leading communications and stakeholder engagement for large-scale transport projects in Queensland.


Managing relationships with local and state government stakeholders.


Understanding Queensland's political landscape and government decision-making processes.


Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, persuasive messaging.


Proven ability to develop and implement strategic communication plans that respond to internal and external developments.


Experience in team leadership and building internal capability.


Knowledge of legislative processes, public policy, and government structures related to major transport projects.


Demonstrated ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders, including government officials, community groups, and the media.
