About the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Commercial Lines Underwriter. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating new and/or renewal business opportunities, performing thorough risk assessments, and ensuring accurate pricing and policy issuance for commercial property and casualty accounts.

We work closely with agency partners to drive profitable growth and retain high-quality business across target territories. The ideal candidate has experience with large property accounts and a strong understanding of commercial lines rating. Contractor, restaurant, and habitational experience is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
• Underwrite, rate, quote, and issue commercial lines policies in accordance with established guidelines and authority levels.
• Evaluate new business, renewals, and endorsements for risk acceptability, coverage accuracy, and profitability.
• Analyze exposures and gather required information to make informed underwriting decisions.
• Collaborate with agency personnel to strengthen relationships, identify new opportunities, and retain quality business.
• Promote Farmers products and services to appointed agents.
• Maintain a working knowledge of underwriting guidelines, compliance requirements, and state regulations.
• Monitor and analyze the performance of assigned agents; proactively seek to generate profitable growth.
• Prepare reports summarizing underwriting trends and key insights.
• Participate in achieving department goals and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain professionalism in all communications with agents, insureds, and internal staff.
• Adhere to established workflows and team standards while effectively managing time and priorities.
• Escalate matters beyond authority to the Underwriting Manager as needed.
