The Opportunity

AECO Group is seeking an experienced Commercial Legal Manager to negotiate, manage, and deliver AECO’s growing set of positions and contracts in our renewable energy division and manage and deliver our commercial partnerships for distribution, for renewables and non-renewables.

The Role

As the Commercial Legal Manager - APAC, you will have significant commercial experience in trade ranging from negotiating contracts with counterparties and supporting sales and procurement teams through to managing the execution and delivery of those bilateral contracts. Working closely with our Sales and Procurement teams you will facilitate the delivery of commercial contracts and manage end-to-end commercial risk and profitability.

You will manage our register of counterparties and supervise our contract book of deliverables and obligations across a range of assets and services. You will also manage our distribution and partnership program, the contract delivery and compliance and qualification program for our AECO Parter program. The AECO Partner program operations in Australia, the Philippines, and soon Singapore and will manage a large number of distribution agents and partners.

You will be responsible for managing the commercial compliance and obligations of this program and other contracts of AECO, including any trademark matters. You will review and participate in mitigation processes in line with overall operating procedures.

You will be legally trained and have legal framework knowledge and have experience in managing and delivering contracts in a face-paced commercial environment. Experience in the services or commodities business would be advantageous.

Qualifications
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Membership in the relevant Bar association (in good standing)
• Significant years of experience in commercial law practice, ideally within an in-house legal department.
• Proven track record of handling complex commercial contracts, including drafting, review and negotiation/advise on negotiation strategy for commercial terms.
• Assist in commercial terms adjustments in contracts, approvals and deal structuring to expedite deal closures.
• Expertise in areas like managing trade or brokerage contracts and general commercial, contracts management, distribution contracts, sales agreements, intellectual property licensing and joint ventures.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify legal risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate internal discussions amongst functional stakeholders to reach practical business solutions to complex contracting issues.
• Experienced in advising suitable commercial terms based on product variations and their pricing models.
• Deep understanding of relevant laws and regulations related to commercial transactions.
