Job Description
The Center for EcoTechnology is hiring a Commercial Energy Consultant II for a remote, field-based role, requiring residency near Lowell, MA. Responsibilities include conducting energy audits, promoting energy-efficient upgrades, and collaborating with contractors and utility partners. The position involves managing multiple projects, mentoring junior staff, and requires 3-5 years of relevant experience. Frequent travel within MA and neighboring states is necessary.
Location: This field-based position is remote; however, you must reside within driving distance of Lowell, MA.
CET is seeking a level II Commercial Energy Consultant to join our team at CET. In this role, you will conduct audits and help our commercial customers complete projects that result in estimated savings, including weatherization and electrification measures for their businesses. You will collaborate with contractors to implement proposed projects and work with utility partners to take advantage of available savings incentives. Your primary focus will be to motivate customers to adopt recommendations and achieve implementation goals.
As a Commercial Energy Consultant II, you will:
• Conduct energy assessments for commercial facilities and quantify potential savings from weatherization and equipment upgrades.
• Deliver clear, actionable reports and ensure each assessment meets quality and quantity targets.
• Communicate results and savings opportunities to customers, promoting energy-efficient upgrades and available incentive funding.
• Educate customers on heat pump technology and energy efficiency, reviewing existing systems and providing upgrade guidance.
• Recommend and help install ISMs (instant savings measures like aerators, thermostats, etc.).
• Enter and manage assessment data in program databases, ensuring compliance with utility incentive requirements.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating with the sales team and locating contractors when needed.
• Maintain long-term customer relationships and seek new assessment opportunities across customer portfolios.
• Travel frequently (up to 40%) throughout MA and neighboring states.
• Stay current in the field through professional development and participation in industry associations.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to a high-quality, supportive team culture.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and service quality.
You will bring the following to this position:
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in a field related to energy efficiency, with prior commercial or residential energy auditing experience or experience with selling commercial building services, air source heat pumps, or other energy efficient HVAC equipment preferred (with a record of achieving assigned sales goals).
• Must have comfort with delivering in-person and virtual informational and sales presentations.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Preferred 1 year of experience training and educating internal or external partners in a business environment.
• Must be organized and have the ability to work independently.
• Work style should be flexible, reliable, self-directed.
• Must be reliable, hardworking, and trustworthy, and display leadership skills.
• Must be able to conduct site visits involving lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, and using technical equipment and tools.
• Passion for the environment, community involvement, and a desire to make a difference in a not-for-profit industry is a big plus.
This position requires reliable transportation for work-related travel. Mileage will be reimbursed when using a personal vehicle. Any offer of employment is conditional and subject to the successful completion of a background check, motor vehicle record (MVR) review, and drug screening.

Individual compensation will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.
CET provides you with excellent benefits, including vacation, paid and floating holidays, and personal/sick time; medical, dental, and vision insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; an EAP, and a retirement plan with a 3% company match. CET provides a monthly $85 stipend for your home internet and/or phone expenses.
This is a full-time, exempt, field-based, remote position.
