Job Description

Futura Energy Group is seeking a Commercial Director to lead sales efforts in California and beyond, focusing on building customer relationships in the clean energy sector. The role involves driving go-to-market strategies, negotiating agreements, and collaborating with technical teams. Candidates should have a successful sales background in B2B industrial or energy markets, strong communication skills, and a technical understanding. This is a full-time position based in Los Angeles, CA.
Company Overview

The company is a mission-driven organization focused on developing next-generation energy infrastructure. Their work centers on building scalable, cost-efficient systems that support clean energy innovation and long-term sustainability. By rethinking traditional approaches to energy production, they aim to enable widespread access to reliable, low-impact energy solutions.

Position Overview

The company is seeking a Sales Lead to drive commercialization efforts across California, the U.S., and international markets. This role involves identifying, developing, and securing customer relationships across multiple verticals—ranging from fuel offtakers to industrial hardware buyers. The Sales Lead will deliver strategic partnerships, negotiate commercial agreements, and manage customer success across current and future product offerings.

This is a highly technical business development role that requires fluency in both commercial strategy and engineering fundamentals. The ideal candidate will combine strong interpersonal skills with technical curiosity, and possess the ability to translate complex offerings into compelling value propositions for a range of customers.

Key Responsibilities
• Drive go-to-market execution across fuel and hardware products, from lead generation to deal closure.
• Identify and build relationships with key customers, partners, and joint venture stakeholders.
• Lead commercial negotiations and manage long-term customer engagement.
• Collaborate with technical and executive teams to align product development with market feedback.
• Represent the company at industry conferences, meetings, and strategic engagements.
• Build and scale the internal sales and customer success functions.
• Travel as needed (~20%) to support market development and relationship management.

Required Qualifications
• Proven track record of sales success, ideally in B2B industrial, energy, or hardware markets.
• Experience selling to government entities, utilities, or industrial offtakers.
• Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, unstructured startup environment.
• Comfortable engaging deeply with technical teams and navigating complex technologies.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

Preferred Qualifications
• Background in hardware engineering or a related technical field.
• Deep knowledge of one or more technical verticals (e.g., automotive, aerospace, chemicals, medical devices).
• Familiarity with natural gas markets, chemicals, or energy trading.
