Commercial Associate, Hospitality & Tourism

Piper Alderman is seeking a Commercial Associate with 2-4 years PQE to join their Hospitality and Tourism team in Adelaide. The role involves working on transactions for vendors, purchasers, and landlords, while developing expertise in commercial law. The Role

We are seeking an ambitious commercial lawyer, ranging from 2-4 years PQE, to join our Hospitality and Tourism team at Piper Alderman. This position would afford the successful candidate the opportunity to specialise under the mentorship of leading Partner, Jonathan Dodd, who was recently recognised in Best Lawyers in Australia for Hospitality and Tourism Law (Adelaide, 2025) and as a Recommended Property and Real Estate Lawyer (South Australia, 2024) by Doyles Guide. Jon leads by example with a strong commitment to client excellence with strong relationships in and outside the industry. Jon has developed his expertise at Piper Alderman since commencing as a Law Clerk at Piper Alderman in 2006.

This role is diverse in nature, meaning your average day will provide you the opportunity to build on your commercial skills and develop expertise in a fun, yet hardworking team. Your role will involve acting for vendors, purchasers and landlords in transactions involving licensed and non-licensed premises and businesses. The team also advises landlords and tenants in respect of all aspects of leasing and assists clients with applications to the licensing authority.

About You
• 2+ years PQE experience in general commercial or property law.
• Commercial law experience drafting contracts and client communication.
• Exposure to, or interest in, hospitality and tourism or planning law is desirable.
• An excellent academic record with strong legal skills.
• Strong commercial acumen.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• High level of attention to detail.
