Job Description
The Climate Sustainability and Resilience Coordinator at Forest County Potawatomi Community in Crandon, WI, will lead the implementation of the FCPC Climate Change Plan, facilitating collaboration among tribal programs and community members. Responsibilities include tracking sustainability metrics, conducting analyses, managing grants, and updating the Climate Change Plan. A Bachelor's Degree in a related field and relevant experience are required. This is a full-time position.
Climate Sustainability and Resilience Coordinator
Summary:
The Climate Sustainability and Resilience (S&R) Coordinator is responsible for leading efforts to ensure that action items identified in the FCPC Climate Change Plan are fully implemented by Tribal Programs. Position will prepare the Community for projected immediate and long-term climate change impacts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Facilitating the implementation of action items in the FCPC Climate Change Plan throughout tribal government programs and services. Position will work with Program Managers to prepare ordinances, codes, and resolutions.
• Encouraging involvement of Community members in S&R planning to gather and incorporate Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) into S&R planning.
• Collaborating with the Energy, Planning & Capital Projects, the Community Farm, and other Government Departments as appropriate to expand on current efforts to anchor all projects and activities to S&R goals and strategies.
• Tracking sustainability metrics of all events, actions, and projects, including policy and procedural instructions, to analyze programs and practices and assess the suitability and effectiveness of activities.
• Conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis of sustainability projects within the community in areas such as waste management, green building practices, food scarcity.
• Keeping pace with new research and environmentally sustainable practices, reviewing, and updating the Climate Change Plan every 5 years.
• Disseminating information to the Community related to climate change initiatives undertaken and provide information and recommendations that can be incorporated into individuals’ daily practices.
• Managing program grants and submitting timely reports as required to the funding agencies on progress, issues, successes, and budgets.
• Identifying additional funding opportunities for grants or other external funding sources, including community partnerships.
Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
• Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability, Climate Change, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or related
• 1-2 years related experience or an understanding of the municipal policies climate change mitigation and adaptation preferred
• Proficiency or knowledge of sustainability and resilience practices
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• A highly integrated and cross-discipline communication style, using effective listening, stakeholder consensus-building and change management skills to meet the S&R goals
• Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to organize and manage workloads and projects, set priorities, meet deadlines and work under pressure to serve the diverse needs of each Tribal Government Program
• Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and quantitative/qualitative analysis programming
• Knowledge of sustainability accounting practices or experience in the measurement or related fields
• Must have a valid, clean driver’s license and be at least 21 years of age
• Must successfully pass all applicable background checks and drug screens
