We are seeking a motivated Climate Resilience and Permitting Specialist to join our team in Springfield, MA. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level professional looking to grow their career in environmental permitting, climate resilience, and regulatory compliance. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of wetland scientists, planners, and engineers to navigate permitting processes and support sustainable project development.
Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with permitting and design staff to develop and submit regulatory applications under the guidance of senior team members.
• Write clear and compelling project narratives that describe environmental impacts, mitigation strategies, and regulatory compliance.
• Communicate with regulatory agencies to guide projects through permitting pathways efficiently.
• Attend pre-application meetings, site visits, and public hearings to present project information to regulators and stakeholders.
• Conduct field delineations of wetland resource areas, wetland function assessments, and other fieldwork to support environmental permitting.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science/policy, Water Resources, Wetlands, Natural Resources, or a related field.
• 0 to 3 years of experience in environmental permitting, with familiarity in:
o Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act
o Clean Water Act (Section 401/404)
• Environmental impact assessments (NEPA, MEPA, CEPA)
• Comfortable engaging with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and clients via phone, email, and in-person meetings.
• Basic GIS proficiency
• Familiarity with climate adaptation strategies (e.g., green infrastructure, wetland restoration, coastal resilience)
• Wetland Professional in Training (WPIT) certification is a plus
