RTI International is hiring up to five Climate Resilience Specialists for a 5-year project focused on assisting communities with federal grants to address climate change. Candidates must be willing to relocate to specific regions such as Seattle, New Orleans, Cleveland, southern Maine, or Hampton Roads. Overview

The Geospatial Science and Technology (GST) program in the Technology practice area of RTI International's Social, Statistical and Environmental Sciences (SSES) Unit is hiring up to five experienced Climate Resilience Specialists for an upcoming project. The climate resilience specialists will assist local communities applying for or managing federal grants to mitigate the impacts of climate change. Each position is full-time, dedicated to this project, and will have duration of 5 years.
Responsibilities

Community engagement is essential to these positions therefore candidates must reside or be willing to relocate close to one of:
Seattle (WA) or Lacey (WA)
New Orleans (LA) or Acadiana (LA)
Cleveland (OH) or Duluth (MN)
southern Maine coast
Hampton Roads (VA) or coastal Delaware/Maryland/Virginia.
Candidate must be able to start by 1/6/2025. RTI anticipates one position in each of the defined regions above. All candidates must be able to pass a National Agency Check (NACI) and all will be expected to travel at least 25% of the time.
Qualifications

Minimum of a Master's degree and at least 3 years of experience working in climate adaptation and resilience or equivalent. Equivalent education/experience is a Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience.
Experience working in climate adaptation and resilience.
Understanding of the challenges faced by Tribal, rural, economically disadvantaged, and other underserved communities.
Experience in one or more of the following areas: hazard mitigation, agriculture, emergency planning, affordable housing, nature-based solutions, land conservation, resilient transportation, and coastal management.
Strong communication and organizational skills as the climate resilience specialist will work across different levels of government, perform needs assessments, engage in capacity-building strategies, communicate risk, and create and deliver trainings at the community location.
Experience gathering, processing, interpreting, and communicating scientific data such as socio-economic, transportation, and land cover data leveraging appropriate computer software for analyses, visualization and presentation including statistical, geospatial, and slide presentation tools.
Ability to work independently.
