Job Description

Guidehouse seeks a Climate Policy Managing Consultant in Boston, MA, to support public and private sector clients in achieving climate and clean energy goals. This includes initiatives aimed at deep decarbonization, enhancing climate resilience, and fostering positive social impact. As a Climate Policy Managing Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in guiding clients through the complexities of climate change. This involves integrating climate policy and planning with legal and regulatory frameworks, engaging with communities and stakeholders, and employing detailed analytical approaches to formulate and implement effective climate actions. Our team supports a diverse range of clients, including those in financial services, energy provision, and life sciences, utilizing leading frameworks such as Science-Based Targets, Net-Zero, ESG, and TCFD to create innovative solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for managing project teams, ensuring effective communication with clients, and overseeing project schedules and team dynamics. You will also be expected to develop your team members through coaching and feedback, fostering a culture of excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in climate policy, with experience in local, state, or federal government, and will be instrumental in growing our sustainability consulting practice while delivering impactful results for our clients.

Responsibilities
• Tailor decarbonization and sustainability offerings to specific clients
,
• Provide content expertise and corporate insights on a daily basis
,
• Lead project teams on engagements in partnership with Directors
,
• Actively participate in project delivery, collaborating with teams
,
• Develop an internal network to leverage resources from across the global team
,
• Build and maintain relationships with clients
,
• Stay updated on relevant topics for clients, including sector-specific issues and reporting agencies
,
• Contribute to local or global internal initiatives and serve as a role model for consultants
,
• Support business development and sales activities, identifying new opportunities
,
• Participate in industry and networking events.

Requirements
• Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience, excluding internships and fellowships
,
• Minimum bachelor's degree
,
• Experience in the energy/sustainability/climate space, particularly in the public sector
,
• Experience in large organizational environments
,
• Expertise in policy development and implementation
,
• Management of federal grants and large programs
,
• Analysis and modeling of greenhouse gas inventories and clean energy technologies
,
• Effective communication skills, particularly in climate storytelling
,
• Ability to lead teams and create impactful executive-level presentations
,
• Strong business writing skills
,
• Demonstrated success in high-performing teams.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in consulting, especially at a large firm

• Master's degree or MBA
,
• PMP certification
,
• Additional languages (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese)

• Familiarity with environmental and sustainability policy

• Experience in clean energy economics

• Knowledge of greenhouse gas accounting standards
