About the position

The City of Eugene is seeking a dedicated Climate Policy Analyst to support the development, implementation, and management of climate action and sustainability initiatives. This full-time position within the Sustainability Program offers a unique opportunity to shape the community's sustainability efforts and drive impactful climate initiatives that benefit the local community.

Responsibilities
• Implement and track progress of projects and programs to meet Eugene's climate goals.

• Analyze data to inform policy decisions and update strategies.
,
• Engage with diverse community members to raise awareness and foster participation in climate initiatives.
,
• Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to ensure effective execution of climate policies.
,
• Research best practices from other cities to inform local climate work.
,
• Manage consultants on climate-related projects, providing guidance and support.
,
• Prepare and deliver reports and presentations on climate progress to elected officials and stakeholders.
,
• Oversee meetings and agenda setting for the Sustainability Commission.
,
• Identify and pursue grant opportunities to support climate action efforts.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Public Policy, Energy Management, Sustainable Systems, Public/Business Administration, or a closely related field.

• Two years of work experience in sustainability, resource conservation, climate mitigation, or energy efficiency.
,
• Experience identifying and securing grants.
,
• Experience working with or for a local government is desirable.

Nice-to-haves
• Knowledge of environmental, climate mitigation, and resilience issues.

• Experience in program and project management practices.

• Familiarity with budget preparation and administration practices.
