Job Description

The City of Somerville is hiring a Teen Program Coordinator to manage youth-led programming, develop educational workshops, and support teen participants. Candidates should have experience in youth services or education and an understanding of climate justice. The position is part-time (25 hours/week) with a salary of $23.88/hour and includes benefits like medical insurance and tuition reimbursement.
Overview:

The City of Somerville is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Teen Program Coordinator. This position will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating youth-led programming, developing and implementing educational workshops, and providing support services to teen participants.

Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and facilitate youth-led programming
• Develop and implement educational workshops and programs for teen participants
• Provide support services to teen participants
• Work closely with the Youth Services Division to develop and implement programs
• Collaborate with representatives from various city departments to coordinate logistics
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:
• A high school diploma required; strongly preferred for applicants to be enrolled in a college or university majoring in education, child/youth development, or human services
• Minimum of one to three (1-3) years of experience in youth services, education, or community outreach; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job
• Has been trained and demonstrates an understanding of youth development and educational best practices
• Has a working understanding of Climate Justice: the science and impacts of climate change in Somerville, and how climate change can be addressed locally in a way that equitably serves all members of the community
