Transforming Industrial Society in Response to Climate Change

The effects of climate change are evident globally. Shifting industrial society towards a clean economy creates new opportunities and minimizes waste and GHG emissions.

Reducing the mineral value chain's carbon footprint requires innovative approaches. This project will focus on assessing technological and managerial opportunities for achieving this goal.

A highly-motivated student with experience in data analysis, preferably in mineral processing/environmental engineering/geochemistry/earth sciences, is expected to work on this project. Proficiency in programming languages and a good understanding of industrial ecology and climate change agendas are essential.
About the Project

This NSERC-funded project aims to assess technological and managerial opportunities for reducing the mineral value chain's carbon footprint. The successful applicant will work closely with Dr. Qian Zhang at Queen's University in Canada.

The ideal candidate should be interested in interdisciplinary research and equipped with skills in dynamic material flow analysis, life cycle assessment and optimization, integrated assessment modelling for climate change, geospatial analysis, or machine learning in earth sciences.
