Job Description
Terradot is hiring a Climate Change Research Specialist in San Francisco, CA. The role involves data analysis, literature reviews, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to develop measurement and verification strategies for Enhanced Rock Weathering. Candidates should have a physical science degree, coding proficiency, and strong analytical skills. The position requires excellent communication abilities and a proactive research approach.
We are seeking a highly motivated research scientist to join our growing team at Terradot, a pioneering organization focused on harnessing the power of Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) to stabilize Earth's climate. As a key member of our Research and Development team, you will contribute to the development of our measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) strategies and broader research agenda through analysis of datasets large and small, conducting comprehensive literature reviews, and chasing up targeted research questions.
About the Role
• Conduct rigorous data analysis and data manipulation to inform research directions and project development.
• Perform comprehensive literature reviews to identify knowledge gaps and opportunities for innovation.
• Source, compile, and evaluate datasets to assess their relevance and applicability to specific research questions.
• Contribute to the development and execution of research projects, collaborating with highly interdisciplinary teams (e.g., geochemists, agronomists, data scientists, and modelers).
• Apply first-principles thinking and biogeochemical principles to effectively solve complex problems.
• Communicate research findings and technical information clearly and concisely through written reports and presentations.
The ideal candidate will have:
• An undergraduate degree in a physical science field (e.g., geology, chemistry, environmental science) and 1+ years of cumulative work experience.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and executing data analysis projects, with proficiency in a coding language (Python preferred, but R or MATLAB also acceptable).
• Strong analytical skills and a demonstrated ability to solve technical problems.
• A curious and proactive approach to learning and research, with a willingness to dive into new challenges and find solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
