Climate Change Policy Specialist

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge work in climate change policy. As a key member of our Community Resilience team, you will collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative policy tools, legal strategies, and advocacy approaches aimed at promoting climate-resilient waterfront development and infrastructure.

Your main responsibilities will involve:
• Developing and implementing policy and legal strategies to advance our advocacy objectives;
• Representing the organization in court and before regulatory agencies;
• Creating and presenting written and oral testimony to state and local governments, and federal agencies;
• Providing guidance and support to community and advocacy groups on legal and policy matters;
• Fostering partnerships and collaborations with various stakeholders including environmental organizations, waterfront users, scientists, public officials, businesses, and others;
• Providing input on regulatory proposals, permit applications, and other government actions;
• Developing public education materials, articles, opinion pieces, and sharing our advocacy work through media channels;
• Leading project teams and guiding junior attorneys and interns;
• Embodying inclusive leadership practices that promote teamwork and a positive work environment;
• Contribute to our strategic priorities and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion;
• Supporting our Communications team by disseminating advocacy information to the press, members, and the general public;
• Assisting our Development team with fundraising initiatives;
• Creating reports, memos, and presentations;
• Occasionally attending evening meetings.

To excel in this role, you'll need:
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience for Staff Attorney II and 7 years for Senior Attorney;
• A strong passion for climate change policy and environmental protection;
• Superior analytical and writing skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Proven organizational and interpersonal abilities;
• The capacity to multitask, prioritize, and manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment;
• A willingness to learn and grow professionally;
• A dedication to collaboration and teamwork;
• An active law license in Massachusetts and good standing.
