Job Description

Dalhousie University is hiring a Climate Change Analyst to develop and calibrate a coupled ocean wave-current-sea ice-surface modelling system for the northwest Atlantic. The role involves simulating oceanic conditions, examining CO2 pathways, and disseminating research findings. Candidates should have a PhD in Physical Oceanography, extensive research experience, and strong communication skills. This is a full-time position based in Halifax, NS, Canada.
About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our team at Dalhousie University. The successful candidate will assist in developing and calibrating an advanced coupled ocean wave-current-sea ice-surface modelling system for the northwest Atlantic.

Key Aspects of the Job
• Develop a coupled wave-current-ice modelling system for the NWA.
• Simulate oceanic conditions and extreme events over the region in the past and future using the modelling system.
• Examine main physical processes affecting pathways and storage of CO2 over the NWA.
• Disseminate research results through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.

Essential Skills and Qualifications
• A PhD degree in Physical Oceanography with at least 6 years of relevant research experience.
• Significant knowledge and research experience in ocean modelling developments and wave-current-ice interactions over coastal and shelf waters.
• A proven record of effective communication with colleagues and publishing in international journals.
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
