About the position

Public Citizen's Climate Program is seeking a dedicated campaigner to advance advocacy for criminal accountability within the fossil fuel industry. This role focuses on developing and executing organizing and communications efforts to raise awareness of climate prosecution strategies, engage officials, and amplify the voices of climate disaster victims. The campaigner will help build this new program from the ground up, potentially launching state legislative campaigns as part of their efforts.

Responsibilities
• Identify opportunities for direct action organizing and grassroots advocacy.

• Work with partners to capitalize on advocacy opportunities.
,
• Participate actively in coalitions and lead them when appropriate.
,
• Support the organizing and leadership development of climate survivors.
,
• Develop and maintain media relationships and respond to press inquiries.
,
• Write press releases, op-eds, and blog posts, and represent Public Citizen in public forums.
,
• Supervise interns and volunteers involved in climate prosecution work.
,
• Develop materials, recruit partners, hold meetings, lobby public officials, and organize events to achieve campaign goals.

Requirements
• 1-8 years of relevant experience in campaigns, organizing, or advocacy.

• Strong strategic thinking and oral and written communication abilities.

• Outstanding people skills for building relationships with volunteers and partners.

• High energy, enthusiasm, persistence, and attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and balance multiple priorities under pressure.

• Creative and collaborative spirit.

• Knowledge of climate accountability is a plus, but eagerness to learn is also valued.

• Strong commitment to the cause and understanding of its urgency.

Benefits
• Competitive salary range of $79,433 - $94,384.
