Job Description

HDR is seeking a Civil/Solid Waste Intern in Omaha, NE. The role involves gaining experience in solid waste facilities and environmental projects under a senior engineer's supervision. Responsibilities include groundwater sampling, data analysis, and various engineering tasks. Candidates should be enrolled in an engineering program with strong problem-solving skills. The position is full-time, temporary, and may require occasional travel, with a preference for local candidates.

In the role of a Civil (Solid Waste) Intern, we'll count on you to:
Gain real-world experience on exciting projects by applying standard engineering techniques and procedures to solid waste facilities and environmental projects such as landfills, recycling facilities, remediation sites, and waste transfer stations

Work under the guidance and direct supervision of a senior-level Engineer to assist in groundwater sampling program including coordination with laboratories, data analysis and reporting on behalf of private and public clients for regulatory agency compliance

Perform other duties as needed such as performing overall site layouts, grading plans, utility layout, cost estimating and drainage reviews. Perform administrative duties to support project managers and our clients.

Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs

May require occasional travel

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer 2+ years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA

Prior experience with field work and environmental regulations is a plus.

Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Micro Station is a plus

Preference given to local candidates
