Job Description
New Energy Equity is seeking a Chief Marketing Officer to lead marketing strategy and execution for community solar projects. The role involves brand management, strategic communications, and leveraging AI-driven solutions. Key responsibilities include developing marketing strategies, overseeing brand identity, engaging with communities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate should have experience in renewable energy and data-driven marketing. This position is based in Annapolis, MD.
New Energy Equity LLC, a leading developer and financier of community solar projects and renewable energy solutions, seeks a visionary and results-driven Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to lead our marketing strategy and execution. This is a unique opportunity to help build the future of renewable energy by driving community engagement, brand development, and innovation, through advanced consumer and B2B marketing practices and AI-driven solutions.
The CMO will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s marketing efforts, including brand management, strategic communications, community engagement, and the implementation of data-driven campaigns. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned marketing leader with expertise in renewable energy, data driven marketing solutions, proficiency in leveraging AI, and a passion for empowering communities through clean energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
• Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with the company’s mission, goals, and growth objectives.
• Lead brand positioning and messaging to ensure differentiation and alignment with community-focused values.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to define and measure KPIs, ensuring marketing efforts drive measurable impact.
• Establish stakeholder reporting that includes marketing program analysis and optimization planning.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing budget strategy, optimizing resource allocation across all channels and demonstrating a measurable return on marketing investments.
Brand Development and Management
• Oversee the creation and evolution of the company’s brand identity, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints.
• Build compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences, including residential customers, businesses, and policymakers.
• Ensure all marketing materials reflect the company’s core values
• Establish corporate communications best practices including all public and subscriber communications, internal brand and stakeholder communications.
AI-Driven Marketing Innovation
• Leverage data and technology to build automated lead lifecycle infrastructure
• Leverage AI and automation tools to optimize marketing strategies, personalize outreach, and analyze campaign performance.
• Utilize predictive analytics and sentiment analysis to inform decision-making and improve stakeholder engagement.
• Stay ahead of industry trends and integrate cutting-edge AI solutions to maintain a competitive edge optimizing marketing investments.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement
• Develop geo-targeted marketing campaigns to drive community awareness and participation in solar initiatives.
• Foster trust and collaboration with community leaders, policymakers, and local organizations.
• Implement educational initiatives to promote the economic, environmental, and social benefits of solar energy.
• Drive lead generation activities to acquire new customers/landowners
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with teams across the Company’s Policy, Operations, Development, Engineering, and Legal groups to align marketing efforts with company goals.
• Partner with business development team and new market entry teams to ideate new market entry strategies to drive customer acquisition and retention.
Data-Driven Decision Making
• Establish systems for tracking, analyzing, and reporting on campaign performance and marketing ROI.
• Optimize marketing strategy based on data and insights and anecdotal feedback from community members.
• Develop a robust community engagement strategy for collecting community input.
Leadership and Team Building
• Build, manage, and inspire a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
• Mentor and develop team members to achieve their professional potential.
Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• 10+ years of experience in marketing leadership roles, preferably within renewable energy
• Proven track record of developing and executing successful, data-driven marketing strategies.
• Proficiency with AI tools for marketing automation, customer segmentation, sentiment analysis, and performance optimization.
• Expertise in brand management, storytelling, and community engagement.
• Strong understanding of the renewable energy landscape, particularly community solar.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
• Experience managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with internal and external partners.
Preferred:
• Experience advocating for clean energy policies or engaging with policymakers.
• Experience working effectively in rural and agricultural areas of the U.S.
• Familiarity with CRM platforms and marketing software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo).
• Experience working with a marketing agency a plus
• Knowledge of ethical AI practices and data privacy regulations.

Employer Will Not Sponsor Visas For This Position
The expected annual compensation range for this position is $180,000 - $200,000, encompassing base pay and potential incentive target opportunity. This range is a good faith estimate based on the position's requirements. Specific compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary depending on factors such as relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, this position may qualify for a comprehensive benefits package, including Retirement Benefits, Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Account, Life Insurance and Disability, Tuition Reimbursement, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences, and more.
