Job Description

Green Recruitment Company is seeking a Chief Financial Officer for an energy storage Independent Power Producer in Columbus, GA. The CFO will lead financial strategy, project financing, and company growth initiatives. Candidates should have extensive experience in renewable energy finance, ideally as a CFO in a similar field. The position is preferred to be based in or near D.C., indicating a strong preference for on-site work.
Our client is a reputable, PE owned battery storage developer owner and operator looking for their first Chief Financial Officer. The team has grown quickly in the last few years, both in terms of pipeline (10GW+) and headcount across all core verticals. The CEO is now looking to appoint the CFO to lead on strategic growth, project financing and wider company initiatives.

Company is headquartered in D.C. and there is a strong preference for this individual to be based in/near the office.

The ideal candidate will have been a the CFO for a renewable power producer and hold extensive energy / battery storage experience. This position is ideally based in D.C. but exceptional candidates will be considered (previous storage CFOs).
Job Summary:

The CFO will lead the financial strategy, planning, and operations for an energy storage-focused Independent Power Producer (IPP). This role requires expertise in corporate finance, project financing, capital markets, and regulatory compliance within the renewable energy and power generation sector. The CFO will be responsible for securing project funding, optimizing financial performance, and ensuring long-term growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy & Leadership
• Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with corporate goals.
• Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes.
• Advise the CEO and board on financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
• Drive M&A, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships to expand the company's energy storage portfolio.

Project & Corporate Financing
• Structure and secure project financing, including debt, equity, and tax equity investments.
• Develop relationships with banks, investors, and financial institutions.
• Negotiate power purchase agreements (PPAs) and revenue contracts to maximize returns.
• Optimize capital structure and cost of capital.

Financial Operations & Compliance
• Oversee accounting, treasury, tax, and audit functions.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, industry standards, and corporate governance requirements.
• Implement financial controls, risk management frameworks, and internal policies.
• Drive operational efficiency and cost optimization.

Investor & Stakeholder Relations
• Manage investor relations and fundraising activities.
• Prepare financial presentations and reports for stakeholders.
• Engage with regulators, utilities, and government agencies on financial matters.

Market & Industry Analysis
• Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging financial models in energy storage and IPP sectors.
• Develop financial models to assess new business opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA preferred).
• CPA, CFA, or equivalent financial certification is a plus.
• 15+ years of experience in finance, with at least 5+ years in a CFO or senior finance leadership role.
• Strong background in renewable energy, IPP, or infrastructure financing.
• Proven expertise in project financing, capital raising, and investor relations.
• Deep understanding of energy markets, storage economics, and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
