Zeno Power is hiring a Chemistry Technician in Seattle, WA, to support the development of Radioisotope Power Systems. Responsibilities include conducting experiments, documenting procedures, preparing chemical solutions, and supporting laboratory operations. Candidates should have an associate's degree in Chemistry and 2+ years of lab experience. The position requires in-office presence Monday to Friday, with minimal travel. Compensation ranges from $30-$45 per hour.
Job Title: Chemistry Technician - Contractor
Zeno Power is seeking a highly motivated Chemistry Technician to support the mission-oriented efforts of developing and bringing to market Radioisotope Power Systems (RPS) technologies.
• Perform daily experiments under direction of Project Lead Chemist.
• Assist with documenting experimental procedures, hazards assessments, and results.
• Assist with literature searches and technical documentation.
• Prepare bulk solutions and in-house chemicals.
• Prepare calibration standard solutions and samples for instrumental analyses.
• Stock and monitor laboratory supplies.
• Assist and support the Hardware lab and the Chemistry lab.
• Support Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) to ensure a safe working environment.
• Help manage and facilitate chemical waste collection.
• Assist with instrument and equipment maintenance and calibration.
• Support Zeno Power Systems Safety Culture.
Key Qualifications and Skills:
• Associate's degree or higher in Chemistry or related field from accredited university.
• 2+ years of laboratory experience.
• Hands-on experience in disciplines related to analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and materials science.
• Demonstrates strong communication skills across disciplines.
• Presents data clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholders.
• Effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to meet deadlines and perform under pressure in an uncertain environment.
• Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to coordinate and lead efforts with minimal direction.
• Eagerness to learn.
• Must have excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with radioactive materials is a plus.
Job Functions:
• Position requires in-office presence in Seattle (South Lake Union) on Monday - Friday.
• Travel: Travel is required, <10%.
• Motor Abilities: Sitting and/or standing for extended periods, bending/stooping, grasping/gripping, fine motor control (hands).
• Physical exertion and/or requirements: Minimal, with ability to safely lift up to 15 pounds.
• Repetitive work: Prolonged.
• Special Senses: Visual and audio focused work.
• Work Conditions: Stairs, typing/keyboard, standard and/or sitting working environment of >8 hrs./day.
Compensation:
The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $30-$45/hr. The final pay-rate will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, years of relevant experience, skills, qualifications, certifications, and other business considerations.
