Position Summary:
The Cat Scan Technician is a non-exempt position that reports to both the Director of Radiology and the Department Supervisor. This position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. The technician must be capable of working in a stressful environment and taking appropriate action when necessary. On-call availability is required, meaning the technician must accept on-call assignments for regularly scheduled shifts and be able to report to the facility within 30 minutes of notification. This status is determined by the technologist on duty. Essential functions include reviewing patient history and physician's orders, educating patients about procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure their understanding and cooperation, and preparing and administering contrast media and/or medications as ordered, within the scope of practice. The Cat Scan Technician is responsible for continually monitoring the patient's condition and responding to any changes in status as appropriate. They prepare equipment and supplies, implement safety standards, and perform necessary quality control procedures on the equipment. The technician is also tasked with troubleshooting, resolving, and reporting any equipment malfunctions. The technician positions the patient, performs imaging procedures, analyzes the results, and identifies any issues with image quality. If needed, they take appropriate action to resolve these issues, such as repositioning the patient and repeating the procedure. Finally, the technician enters, transmits, and reports scan results as part of the imaging process.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Two (2) years of education: Certificate, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree
• Current Radiation Operator Certificate in the state of Alabama. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiology.
• (BLS) Basic Life Support required within 90 days of hire
