Job Description
Derbyshire County Council is hiring Casual Environmental Education Project Rangers to lead conservation groups and deliver outdoor learning sessions at Rosliston Forestry Centre and the National Forest. Candidates should have environmental qualifications or relevant experience, skills in planning and executing conservation tasks, and the ability to engage diverse groups. Availability will be based on bookings, with occasional evening and weekend work required.

The Environmental Education Project, based at Rosliston Forestry Centre delivers award winning outdoor sessions and provides fun learning experiences for schools, volunteers, corporate groups, individuals and families at Rosliston and across the National Forest.
We are looking to expand our team with casual Rangers who can lead conservation groups of individual and corporate volunteers.
Casual Environmental Education Rangers: days/ hours according to bookings and taking into account your availability and preferences.
Please note - we wish to expand the skill set within our team - the successful candidates will each be able to demonstrate some of these skills:
• Environmental qualifications to degree level and / or relevant experience.
• Experience of delivering conservation tasks and work with volunteer groups.
• Experience of planning conservation tasks and a basic understanding of seasonal/ weather variations, reasons for these and how to adapt sessions if needed.
• Experience of running outdoor events for different age groups.
• Basic understanding of habitats, conservation and some ID skills.
• A sense of humour and the ability to inspire and get on with people of all ages.
• Be well organised and able to develop, implement and manage all the ‘’behind the scenes’’ parts of running successful sessions including booking people in and evaluation/ record keeping.
• Attention to detail with all paperwork
• Common sense and an ability to problem-solve.
• Teambuilding experience / basic awareness
Other useful attributes are:
• Basic Microsoft day-to-day use, and basic social media skills
• Driving licence and use of a vehicle.
The post holders will require a DBS Disclosure.
Occasional evening and weekend work will be available.
