Sequence Staffing is seeking a Carbon Registry Officer in Washington, DC, to manage interactions with VCS and other registries for carbon project validation and verification. The role involves tracking project processes, communicating with teams, and ensuring data accuracy for reporting. Candidates should have knowledge of carbon credits or a background in business administration, economics, or legal fields. Carbon Registry Administrator (Greenhouse Gas)
Sequence, the nation's leading recruiter of climate change and greenhouse gas professionals for more than 25 years, is currently seeking a unique Carbon Registry Administrator for one of the most innovative social impact investors and carbon project offset developers.
With operations and headquarters in Washington D.C., with subsidiaries in India, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, and Cambodia, the organization's mission is to transform the lives of families in the poorest communities in developing countries by providing access to clean and sustainable energy services, clean energy technologies and improving the health and wellbeing of women and children. To date, their efforts have improved the conditions over 20 million people globally.
Today, our client is building on more than two decades of carbon market activities and working to scale investment programs to match the increasing demand for carbon offset from voluntary markets to meet 'Net Zero' targets for sovereigns, corporations, and consumers.
The organization is in the process of generating three hundred million tons of CO2 emission reductions with an additional $200 million capital investment.
To support these efforts, they have tasked us with the recruitment of a unique Registries Administrator who is chiefly charged with organizational interaction with VCS and other GS registries staff. This unique role manages validation/registration, verification, and transaction interactions and processes for the organization.
This is currently the highest-profile position of its kind in the niche industry.
General duties and responsibilities:
• Support interaction with Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and other GS registries staff/consultants.
• Track project listing, validation/registration, verification, and transaction process.
• Communicate with the registries to address any issues or questions with Management, Legal, CSAT, and Operations teams might have.
• Learn, test, troubleshoot, and be able to demonstrate the use and management of accounts under VCS and other GS registries.
• Process sale of credits following contracts and agreements, i.e., process transfer or retirement of credits and invoicing.
• Interact regularly with staff to facilitate project listing and verification process through the registries.
• Review reported offset project data for accuracy for monthly (to investors) and bi-weekly (to staff) reporting.
• Assist and provide background information in response to general inquiries from staff and investors.
The organization is flexible in recruiting potential individuals for the role. Ideally, we are seeking a candidate with knowledge and experience with Carbon Credits and Voluntary Market standards. Though, they would also be open to hiring a mid to senior professional with a business administration, economics, or legal/paralegal background capable of adapting and learning the industry.
That transition would require desired competencies and experience would:
• Business experience in customer support, systems organization, and/or environmental markets preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and systems thinking skills and willingness to learn on the job. Detail-oriented.
• Demonstrated project management ability, including tracking and meeting deadlines and reporting for multiple activities.
• Ability to work independently and manage workflow effectively for multiple tasks.
• Ability to consistently interact with others in a professional, courteous, and tactful manner, maintain a positive attitude, and work effectively in a team setting.
• Demonstration of a high level of client service, including thorough and timely responses to staff inquiries.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, impeccable integrity and trustworthiness, sense of humor, and diplomatic approach to problem-solving.
• Expertise with Microsoft Office suite. Database experience is a plus.
• Willingness to write, edit, and format documents and email correspondence.
• Ability to meticulously review and provide substantive feedback on datasets and documents.
• Strong speaking, presentation, and written communication skills.
• Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Fluency in one or more additional languages is an asset.
The organization is offering a competitive base salary commensurate with experience, strong benefits (Health Insurance, 401k, paid leave, flexible work environment, etc.), and an upside performance-driven annual bonus. The quantum of bonuses is dependent on achieving personal and corporate targets. The position is slated to be based in the Washington, DC area, and would be remote/hybrid in nature in terms of day-to-day work efforts (work from home with occasional in office work).
