Carbon Credit Associate
About Circular Impact
Circular Impact, part of Regen Organics by the Sanergy Collaborative, is a new climate and social impact platform focused on helping circular economy companies quantify and monetize their environmental and social impact. Circular Impact believes that circular economy companies play a unique role in solving the climate crisis and carbon and climate financing can be a tremendous catalyst for scale and growth in this space.
About Regen Organics
Regen Organics by Sanergy is an award-winning social venture based in Nairobi, Kenya. Regen Organics implements a circular economy model to sustainably manage sanitation and organic waste generated in cities. Using technologies developed in-house, Sanergy upcycles the waste into insect-based protein for animal feed, organic fertilizer, and biomass fuel. Regen Organics operates the largest organics recycling plant in East Africa. Watch here!
Operational since 2011, Regen Organics collects and treats tens of thousands of tonnes of residual organics per year, and successfully sells its agri-inputs to farmers in over 40 counties in Kenya, who see improved yields and increased incomes. The work is pioneering climate action in Africa - it offsets thousands of tonnes of carbon per year and it has big expansion plans to scale this impact. The goal is to expand across Africa and Asia, safely processing 1,000,000T a year of waste and more than 500,000T of carbon emissions offsets per year in the next decade.
For its work, Regen Organics by Sanergy has been recognized by the Gates Foundation as one of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals accelerators; by Fast Company as one of the 10 most innovative companies in the world doing social good and one of the 10 best companies in Africa; by Earthshot Prize as a Finalist and the Food Planet Prize for its innovative circular economy approach.
